You can get appointment notifications sent straight to your phone by adding an SMS address to your Inspector Dashboard. This uses your carrier's email to SMS gateway, which turns an email into a text message.
Please read this first: many carriers have discontinued email to SMS
The major US carriers have shut down (AT&T, T-Mobile) or are winding down (Verizon) the free email to SMS gateways that this feature relies on. If your carrier no longer supports it, these text notifications will not reach you, even if everything is set up correctly.
Smaller and regional carriers may still work. Confirm current support with your carrier before you rely on this.
Why is this happening? These free gateways let anyone turn an email into a text with no verification, which made them an easy target for spam and scam messages. Carriers are closing them and moving business texting onto registered, compliant channels instead.
How To Set it Up
If your carrier still supports email to SMS, follow the steps below:
Access Your Inspector Settings
Login to your HomeGauge Dashboard and navigate to the Appointments > Inspector Settings > Text Message Alerts.Enter Your SMS Address
On the Inspector Settings page, find the field for your SMS address and enter it. Note: This address is used to send text messages to your cell phone.Confirm Your SMS Address Format
The common format is<number>@<domain>, where<number>is your 10 digit cell phone number and<domain>is set by your carrier. Formats vary by carrier and change over time, so verify the current one on your carrier's website or by contacting them directly.
