If you're not using the most recent version of Windows, Mac OS, Android, or iOS your private information isn't as safe as it could be. Older operating systems don't have the latest security features that keep your information safe when you're using the internet. They use outdated versions of what are called Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols. TLS aims to prevent fraud by providing secure communications on the web.
Does this affect me?
To make sure your system supports TLS 1.2 and HomeGauge you may need to do one or more of the following:
Note: TLS 1.2 isn't supported on Android ≤ 4 or iOS ≤ 4
Note: Windows Vista and earlier does not support TLS 1.2. By default TLS 1.2 is not enabled on Windows 7, but it does support it and you can enable it using these instructions. For a full list of support please click here.
- Upgrade your companion devices to the latest version of Android or iOS available
- Update your Windows operating system – to the latest version for your computer
- Update your web browser to the latest version: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari
- Enable TLS 1.2 in the current version of your browser
