🎉 New Feature: Customizable Statuses and Severities in Web Report Writer
We’ve rolled out a powerful new feature that gives you control over the terminology used in your inspection reports — including the ability to rename, relabel, and describe both Item Statuses and Comment Severities to reflect your preferences better or meet state-specific reporting requirements (like in Wisconsin or Texas).
🔧 What’s New
âś… Rename Status and Severity Labels
- Edit the names of Item Statuses and Comment Severities at the company level.
- Changes apply to new inspections only; previously published reports remain unchanged.
âś… Customize Summary Group Names
- Edit the plural form of each severity label that appears in the Executive Summary.
- Useful for tailoring language to match state regulations or your preferred customer communication style.
âś… Add Custom Descriptions
- Item Status and Comment Severity to clarify their meaning in your report output.
âś… View and Manage All Labels in One Place
- A new Status Labels tab in the Library shows all Item Statuses and their mapped Comment Severities.
- Available on browser and supported mobile versions — even offline after syncing.
âś… Custom Icons and Colors
- Your configured icons and colors for statuses and severities now show in:
- Report preview
- Published reports
- Summary sections
- Individual item sections
âś… Consistent, Locked Report Output
- When you publish a report, the current configuration of status/severity names, plural labels, and descriptions is saved.
- Once an inspection is published, no subsequent changes will affect it. It will use the Status and Severity values were set at the time of its publication to maintain consistency if the inspection is republished.
🧪 How It Works
- Custom settings are per-company and visible to all inspectors in the company.
- All changes are managed from the Library > Status Labels tab.
- Custom label settings are available on mobile (on supported app versions) and function offline after syncing.
đź“„ Your Reports, Your Language
Whether you want your report to reflect industry terminology like “Defect” and “Maintenance Item,” or your own style of communication, this update gives you the flexibility to do it — without disrupting the structure or logic of the report output.
This is especially helpful for:
- Wisconsin inspectors needing to meet WAHI and state-legislated language standards.
- Texas inspectors relying on proper TREC mapping.
- Any inspector who wants to personalize their reporting workflow.
đź”’ Feature Availability
This feature is behind a feature flag, and we plan to roll it out slowly. If your company does not see these new options, contact productfeedback@homegauge.com.

🎉 New Feature: Summary Intro Text in Web Report Writer
You asked, we built it. Web Report Writer now supports a dedicated Summary Intro Text field — giving you a consistent way to introduce your Summary section, meet state-specific requirements (like Wisconsin’s), and ensure your report speaks your language from start to finish.
🔧 What’s New
âś… Add a Summary Intro Disclaimer to Any Template
Use the updated Template Editor to select a custom disclaimer to display above the Summary in your report.
âś… Works Just Like a Disclaimer
This new intro is powered by the same system used for Property, Section, and Item disclaimers — no new tools to learn.
âś… New Category in the Library
You’ll see a new Summary Intro Text section in the Disclaimer Library. Create, edit, and assign reusable summary intros in one place.
âś… Preview and Manage from the Template Editor
The Summary Intro section in each template lets you preview what’s assigned and quickly switch to a different disclaimer if needed.
âś… Pre-Populated to Help You Get Started
If your reports already use hard-coded summary intro text, we’ll show that content in the new template section so you can easily transition it into a reusable disclaimer.
âś… Displays in Web and PDF Reports
Once assigned, your Summary Intro Text appears above the Summary section in both web and PDF formats — for a polished, professional first impression.
🧪 How It Works
- Summary Intro Text is set at the template level only.
- Not editable on a per-inspection basis.
- Updating the template updates future inspections — not published reports.
- Fully supported in report previews, web output, and PDF downloads.
đź“„ Professional. Compliant. Reusable.
This update gives you more control over how your reports start their final summary — whether you’re aligning with Wisconsin’s WAHI standards, standardizing across your company, or just keeping it clean and consistent for your clients.
Use it to:
- Reinforce key safety messaging.
- Set expectations before the punch list begins.
- Stay compliant with local regulations.
