In this article, we'll guide you through the process of setting default customer and Real Estate permissions and configuring automatic email notifications for reports uploaded via the Report Writer Desktop or published Web Writer inspections that were started via appointments. We will also cover controlling what emails you and your customer receive after specific events.
Accessing Upload/Email Options
- Login Inspector Dashboard
- Click My Reports > Upload / Email Options
Default Permissions Assigned
You have the ability to define default viewing and forwarding permissions for both Customers and Real Estate Professionals when a report is added to the dashboard with users attached. This feature helps streamline the process, but please be cautious:
If you prefer individual control over document viewing and forwarding permissions, or if you want to avoid immediate access for Customers/REPs, it's recommended not to use this feature.
- Check off permissions
- Click Save Upload Document Options
Automatically send report notifications
You can also configure the dashboard to automatically send report notification emails to users with the default viewing permissions you have set. However, we advise against using this option due to potential issues:
- If a report needs to be uploaded more than once, customers may receive multiple emails, impacting your professional image.
- The default permissions you've set will be used, and changing them later would require manual adjustment.
- Personalization of email content for customers or REPs isn't possible with this feature.
- Check off the box for Send Report Notifications Automatically. Not recommended.
- Click Save Upload Document Options

Accessing Upload/Email Options
- Login Inspector Dashboard
- Click My Reports > Upload / Email Options
Default Permissions Assigned
You can set default viewing and forwarding permissions for Customers and Real Estate Pros when a report is uploaded to the dashboard.
Warning: If you do not want your Customers/ REP's to have the ability to view or forward documents as soon as the report is on the dashboard. If you want control over viewing and forward permissions for individual documents do not use this feature.
- Check off permissions
- Click Save Upload Document Options
Automatically send report notifications
You can automatically send report emails to users with the above default viewing permissions.
We recommend that you do NOT use this option. Turning it on causes the following issues:
- If you need to upload the report more than once, the customer will get multiple emails, which makes you look unprofessional.
- The default permissions you use above will automatically be used, so if they need to be changed, you must still remember to change them.
- You do not get to decide which email is being sent or get to personalize the email for a customer or REP.
- Check off the box for Send Report Notifications Automatically. Not recommended.
- Click Save Upload Document Options
