How to Duplicate Components in your Template

Why duplicate sections?

By duplicating a Component in your report, you can create an exact copy of the Component and the inspection items within the Component. Some inspectors like to add duplicate sections to create an even more personalized inspection report. You can duplicate rooms (kitchen, living room, den, office) or bathrooms or bedrooms so your report is custom-built to the home you are inspecting. You may also want to use the duplicate option if the home has multiple heating systems or perhaps for an attached and a detached garage. If inspecting a multi-unit home, you will duplicate the "units" section.

How to Duplicate a Section in HG Software per Report

1. Open the software and select your template.
2. Click the Components bar and you will see all your components listed.
   
3. Right-click Structural Systems for example. Choose Duplicate Current Section from the menu. Or click to highlight Structural Systems and click Duplicate Current Section at the bottom of the window.
   
4. You will then be able to name the item by selecting from a predefined list (master bath, hall bath, powder room etc.) or by typing in the name you want. Do this with any component when you need a duplicate. You can add multiple duplicates by clicking Add. Note: Duplicating only changes that report and not the template.
   

Start a Report Template with Duplicate Items

1. With your template open select the 'Components' bar in the pane on the left side of your screen.
   
2. Highlight the section you want and click the 'Edit T' button.
   
3. In the new window look for "default number of repeats to start with" and enter the number of repeats you need in your template.
   
4. The duplicated sections will display in the order they are listed in the box below. This is a template change.
5. Make certain you click 'Save T' after making the edits.
   

Add and Save Repeat Name Options

1. With your template open select the Components bar.
   
2. Then highlight the section you want and click the Edit T button.
   
3. Locate the box labeled Repeat Names for quick entry. To the right will be a button with a plus sign(+). Click the plus sign (+) and add any repeat names such as 'downstairs half bath,' 'upstairs shared bath,' etc., one at a time.
   
4. Make certain you click 'Save T' after making the edits.
