Staying up to date with the most current version of HomeGauge is important to take advantage of new features and bug fixes. Upgrades between different versions are free for customers with HG Services or a subscription. Updating the current version of your software is also free. The steps below explain how to check for and run updates. Click here to read about the most recent version update.

Check Your HomeGauge Version

1. Open the HomeGauge software on your computer
2. Click Help > About HomeGauge...
   
   
   
3. About HomeGauge will show the version of HomeGauge you are currently on. The example below is an old version of HomeGauge Inspection Software 5.4.5.0
   
4. Click OK when finished 

Check for Software Updates

1. Open the HomeGauge software on your computer
2. Click Help > Check for Updates
   
   
   Note: Make sure you are prepared to close HomeGauge if you are looking to install updates. Save and close any open report.
3. If you are already up to date HomeGauge will show that your software is up to date. Click OK.
   
4. If an update is available, HomeGauge will show the version you currently have and that an update is available. If you would like to update, click Yes.
   
5. HomeGauge will download the new installer. 
   
6. You will be prompted to install the new download once it is finished. Click Yes. HomeGauge will close and the installer will start updating HomeGauge.
   
   Note: Updates and re-installs do not remove any of your settings. They may however add any missing default HomeGauge material. This includes any missing default templates, print documents, or forms.

Upgrade from Version 3 or 4 to Version 5

Upgrading to the latest major version provides you with the latest features and integration with other service providers. It is designed to improve your efficiency, reduce time, and provide a higher quality report.

Cost of Major Version Upgrade

• If you do not use HG Services, the cost is $590 to upgrade from HomeGauge version 4 to HomeGauge version 5.
• If you pay for HG Services or a Subscription, upgrades are included at no additional cost. You always get the latest upgrade and you'll get it first. Please note that you will need to have had active HG Services for 10 consecutive months in order to receive the free upgrade.

Cost of Updates to Current Version

• There is no cost for updates to your current version of the software. For example, if you have version 5, all updates such as 5.4.5 and 5.5 are free.
• We recommend that you always update your software to fix bugs and see minor new features. To make sure you have the current version, you can click Help > Check for Updates.

How to Upgrade to the Next Major Version

If you are currently using HomeGauge 4, follow the steps below to upgrade to HomeGauge 5:

1. On the computer you have HomeGauge 5 installed on, log in to your Dashboard and click Install HG5 on the left menu.
2. Once the install is complete and HG5 opens, you must convert your HG4 template. Open a blank report and click Select Report Template. Find your version 4 template and open it. It will have the HG4 orange icon next to it. It may be in the "uncategorized" category on the left of your screen.
3. Once it is open, click File > Save Template As. On the next screen, name your template, then click Save. From that point forward, use this newly saved copy of your original template to build reports in HG5.
