We noticed a common practice amongst Texas Inspectors was to essentially complete the report twice. The first time using the mandatory REI format and then a second time using their preferred format that provided more detail in a structure that met their desired style. To help inspectors save time you now only have to complete the inspection once and then print the report in two different formats. Behind the scenes, we mapped Web Writer’s systems, items, and descriptions to TREC's REI format.
Getting Started
To populate the license number, sponsor name, and sponsoring inspector details, go to the Qualifications & Descriptions page under your Company Profile on the Inspector Dashboard.
Previewing & Publishing the Texas Print Format
- To view the report in the Texas format, select Texas from the print format selector from the print preview screen.
- The published report will appear in the reports section of your Inspector Dashboard with a Texas suffix. The standard format will publish to the same folder without the Texas suffix.
Workaround for Missing Outbuilding
We are currently unable to map Outbuildings in the same way we are mapping other items due to the collective nature of the section's items. As we work on this, we are offering this solution as a work around:
-
Add a new item under General with the type “Other General” and then add a status and comment on the item. This will then be displayed in Optional Systems under Other.
Note: The attached PDF below outlines which Web Writer items map to which TREC REI 7-6 items. In some cases several Web Writer items map to one TREC item. The finished TREC report will display the Inspection Status for each Web Writer item under the corresponding TREC item. In the example below TREC item Cooling Equipment includes the following Web Writer HVAC items: AC-Condenser, AC-Evaporator Coil, Air Conditioner, Air Handler, Packaged HVAC, Swamp Cooler, Thermostat, and Window Air Conditioner.
