You can use one of Web Writer’s mobile apps to complete an inspection offline. We have developed the apps, so that the experience feels seamless across the different platforms. There are only minor differences between the experiences.

First time using the Web Writer to write a report
Before logging in to the Web Writer Moblie App, you must sign into the Web Writer Web Application (this is the browser version of the Web Writer). The App will prompt you to do so. When first logging into the Web Writer Web Application, there is a tour showing how to use the Web Writer. After which, you can sign into the Web Writer Moblie App which will remember your login credentials until you sign out or reinstall the App.

Click on the Sign in @cloud.homegauge.com.
- Your browser will launch the Web Writer Web Application with a login screen.

Enter your HomeGauge Username and Password and click Login.

Go to the Web Writer App and enter your HomeGauge Username and Password. Click Login.
Starting a Report
There are three ways to start a report with the Web Writer Mobile Apps.
The Web Writer Mobile App only displays reports in the past 2 days and 14 days in the future. The Web Writer Web Application displays all synced reports created with the Web Writer.
Create an Inspection from an Appointment
When booking appointments on the Inspector Dashboard, you enter all the information about the inspection, send out agreements to be signed, and create invoices to be paid. Creating an Inspection from the appointment saves time by not having to reenter the information. Also, reports are tied to the agreement and invoice.

Sync Your Appointment Data to a Web Writer Report
Sync Inspection on the Web Writer Web App
A Data connection is required to sync Inspections to the Web Writer Mobile App.

Login to HomeGauge Inspector Dashboard (click here).

Click Web Writer.
- Click Add Inspection.
- Enter the New Inspection details. Required fields are Address, Inspection Date, and Time. Click Save when done.

Open the Web Writer Moblie App.

Click Refresh Data. Note: If Connect to Sync is displaying instead of Refresh Data. Connect to the internet to sync the report to the Web Writer Moblie App.
- Select the Inspection to start working on it.
Add Inspection on the Web Writer Moblie App
If you do not see the Add Inspection button on the home screen, sign out (Click the menu on the top left, Click your name, and Click Sign out). Then login.
If you booked an appointment for this inspection, it is best to Refresh Data to bring in the report. However, if you are in an area without data, then Add Inspection to create a report. After publishing the report, it will need to be manually moved to the agreement on the dashboard (click here).

Start by opening the Web Writer Moblie App.

Click Add Inspection
- Enter the New Inspection details. Required fields are Address, Inspection Date, and Time. Click Save when done.
- Select the Inspection to start working on it.
Writing the Report
Writing a report is the same as the Web Writer Web Application, except you can take pictures from the Web Writer Mobile App.
The apps are offline and can be manually synced anywhere you have data. Click Sync to the Cloud. This is a good practice to ensure reports are backed up on the Cloud and ready to be accessed anytime.

Previewing and Publish Report
Previewing and publishing the report takes place on the Web Writer Web Application.

When done with the report, click Sync to Cloud.
- Click on the Menu on the top left of the screen.
- Click Inspector Dashboard.
- Click the Menu on the top left of the screen.
- Click Web Writer.
- Once in the Web Writer Web Application, follow these steps to publish the report and send an email letting your clients and REPs know the report is ready to view (How do I Publish a Report From the Web Writer, add clients and REPS and send emails to clients and agents?).
Export Photos
The Web Writer App can export photos for the report or all photos on the App. This is useful if you need access to the photos. Or if an issue occurred when Syncing the report to the Cloud.
Export all photos from the report:

In the report, click Photos.
- Click the Three-Dot Menu.
- Click Export Photos.
- Click Export. The photos are exported to your device gallery.
- When done, click Cancel.
Export photos stored in the Web Writer Moblie App
You can see all photos from the inspection reports on your Web Writer Moblie App. Here you can see if the pictures have been synced. You can export individual photos here as well.
- When on the main screen, click the upper left Menu.
- Click About.

Click Photos. If Sync is true, the photos are synced to the Cloud. If Sync is false, they are not. Clicking Sync to the Cloud on the main Menu will sync the photos.
- To export an individual photo, click Transfer.
Backups
Here you can restore a backup, delete individual backups, or clear all backups.

When on the main screen, click the upper left Menu.
- Click About.
- Click Help, then Backups.
Clear Data
There is an ability to clear all data from your device. We recommend only using this if instructed to do so by HomeGauge Support.

- Click About.
- Click Help, then Clear Data.
