Status lets you control what shows up in your inspection report—and in your view while you're working. Whether you're streamlining your workflow, customizing what the client sees, or making sure your report is compliant, understanding status is essential.
What Is "Status"?
Each Item in Web Report Writer has a status, which affects:
- ✅ Whether it appears in the published report
- 🧾 Which summary section it shows up in
- 🧭 How you navigate and track progress during the inspection
Default Item Statuses
All Items start as Not Tested.
Click the status icon next to any item to choose a new status:
- Not Tested: Default—hasn’t been inspected yet
- Satisfactory: Inspected and in working condition
- Not Applicable (N/A): Not relevant to this property—won’t appear in the report
💡 Tip: Adding a comment will automatically update the item's status based on the severity of that comment.
Set Status
- Open your inspection report
- Select the checkbox next to one or more items
- Click Status
- Choose the status you want to apply
To apply a status to all items in a section, check the box at the top of the section list.
Hide or Show "Not Applicable" Items
If an item is marked N/A, it will:
- Be hidden from view when "Hide N/A" is turned on
- Be excluded from the final report
- Cause the entire system to be removed if all items in that system are N/A
To hide or show N/A items:
- Open a Report
- Click Items
- Select Filter/Sort at the top
- Toggle Hide N/A Status
🔄 Click the status icon next to any item to manually change it to N/A or another status.
Sort Items by Severity
Want to prioritize more serious issues in your report?
- Click Filter/Sort
- Choose Severity
Now, instead of alphabetical order, items will show in order of severity. This helps:
- Quickly scan critical issues
- Control the order items appear in the Summary Sections
Status vs. Severity
Severity (from your comment) can automatically set the item’s status.
For example:
- Adding a “Not Working” comment will update the status
- Deleting the comment will revert the item to Not Tested or N/A
✋ You can always manually override the status if the automatic choice doesn’t match your judgment.
Report Summaries
- Items appear in summary sections based on comment severity
- However, status still determines if an item is included in the summary at all
