    Hey Scot!

This is something we are actively working on and showcased a bit during the Together conference. Before we were able to update the camera, we had to address an additional issue where the new camera wouldn't allow for users to rotate for portrait mode, but that has also been resolved. Check your email later today for instructions on how to set up the Beta version of the Android Companion App, which includes the new Camera update. Have a great rest of your day!

The camera does not appear to be working well for most trying it. What are the plans for the next update? You guys are making it tough to hang in there. So much waiting for little progress being made.

    Hi Scot,

We have received feedback from users already in the beta that the workflow is better but that they would like to see zoom and a flashlight button incorporated.  We're working on making these changes and will continue to test before releasing the update.

Additionally to address one of your previous points, as we do not own the unofficial Facebook group, this Community Forum is the best place to come with questions, to learn more, and to get official updates. We are able to monitor this forum, so all posts will be seen by HomeGauge eyes, and the information you get here will be the most accurate and up-to-date available. The forum also integrates with our ticketing system, allowing us to create support tickets for user specific issues or create feature request/bug tickets to send to our developers directly through the integration.

I'm using a samsung Note 10+ and all the photos I take with the HG camera end up oversized and in portrait mode. I have to resize and spin the photos 90 degrees when editing on the desktop. Is there a setting that I can adjust on my end to make this more useful because its more work with the HG camera than with the native one at this point.

    Hi John,

Are you using the Beta camera for android at the moment? If not, HG defaults to using the Samsung Camera app. I'd definitely recommend calling into the support line to troubleshoot some settings in the Samsung camera app if that is the one you are currently using in the HG companion.

Yes. I’m trying to use the “HG Beta”camera in companion and it only takes pics in portrait mode.

Samsung camera apps are not so good. At least I haven't found a decent one. We shouldn't have to use an app based on the fees we pay for the HG services as such. Too many limitations. Our samsung cameras are great, but we can't use then due to sizing limitations-is the way I understand it.
