Restore old report from dashboard to software for editing...

would anyone know how i could restore an old report from the dashboard back to software for editing.  i have an old report i can see on my dashboard that i want to use/merge into a new report, but if i go to "open reports" that report isn't aviable, there aren't any reports old enough.
