      • Bring the Services you've already created in your HomeGauge software.

      • If you're a new HomeGauge user, choose Use the default services or choose Create new services from scratch instead.
      • You can create appointments immediately. We first recommend reading the section below on Setting Public Services and Service Groups.
    • Create new services from scratch
      • Fully create and customize each Service to your liking.
      • For instructions on creating your first Service, start on step 4 of Edit an Inspection Service below. After the Service is created, you can create your first appointment.
      • We recommend reading the section below on Setting Public Services and Service Groups.

Edit an Inspection Service

  1. Log into your HomeGauge Dashboard.
  2. From the list of blue links, click AppointmentsInspection Services.
  3. Click on the name of the Service you want to edit.
  4. Fill out the fields appropriately:
    • Service Name and Description.
      • The Description is visible to your customers if you allow them to request an appointment. Read the section below on Setting Public Services and Service Groups for more info.
    • Allow Quantity and Quantity Descriptor: use these optional settings if you sell multiples of the Service.
      • For example, you may sell multiple water tests to a customer. If this were the case, check the Allow Quantity box so you can sell more than one, and type "Tests" in the Quantity Descriptor box. That way, when you sell 2 of them, it will say "2 Tests".
    • Time Required: enter the amount of time, in minutes, it will take to perform this Service.
      • For example, if your inspection takes 2.5 hours, enter 150, because it will take 150 minutes. For a very short service, like hanging a radon test, you may want to put in 1 or 2 minutes.
    • Fee and Tax Rate: enter the fee in dollars and cents, and enter the tax rate as a whole percent.
      • Enter the fee amount in the format $150.00
      • Enter the tax rate in the format 7%, not 0.07 or any other way.
    • Service Groups: You and your customers will view your services in categories called Service Groups. Click on a Service Group in the Available box to move it to the Selected box. This Service is part of that Service Group.
    • Public Appointments: Check this box if you want to allow customers to see and select this Service when requesting an appointment online. Read the section below on Setting Public Services and Service Groups for more info.
    • Which inspectors can perform this service?
      • If you are a one-inspector company, choose All Inspectors Can Perform this Service
      • If you are a multi-inspector company, make your choice appropriately. If you choose Only the Selected Inspectors Can Perform this Service, click the inspectors you want to perform this service in the Unselected box to move them into the Can Perform Service box.
    • Which agreements are required for this service?
      • Check the box next to any agreement which are required for the Service.
      • When you or the customer select this Service, the customer will be required to sign the agreements you've checked off.
      • For more info on agreements, visit our Support Center category on the topic (click here).
  5. Once the fields are filled, click one of the following:
    • Save Service: Save the Service and exit the creating process.
    • Save and Create Another Service: Save the Service and continue to create another new Service.
    • Cancel: Undo the work on this page and exit the creating process. No changes or new service will be saved.

Delete an Inspection Service

  1. Log into your HomeGauge Dashboard.
  2. From the list of blue links, click Appointments > Inspection Services.
  3. Click on the name of the Service you want to delete.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Delete button. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Creating a Discount Service Item

You can create a discount by creating a Service with a negative fee. You can create a discount Service for standard discounts such as for those paying in cash, military members or repeat customers.

Make a Flat Discount (always the same price)

  1. Log into your HomeGauge Dashboard.
  2. From the list of blue links, click AppointmentsInspection Services.
  3. Click New Service.
  4. Fill in the fields as necessary. Make the Fee field a negative dollar amount.
    • For example, if you want to give someone $50 off, make the Fee -50.00
  5. Save the Service.

Make a Custom Discount (you set the discount for each inspection)

  1. Log into your HomeGauge Dashboard.
  2. From the list of blue links, click Appointments > Inspection Services.
  3. Click New Service.
  4. Fill in the fields as necessary (see section Edit an Inspection Service for more detail about each field). Set the Fee field to -1.
  5. Check the Allow Quantity box, but leave the Quantity Descriptor box blank.
  6. Leave the Time Required box blank.
  7. Save the Service.
  8. When you're creating an appointment that requires a custom discount:
    1. Add the custom discount Service you created.
    2. Make the quantity equal to the dollar discount you want.
      • For example, if you wanted to give a $30 discount, set the quantity to 30. The result will be -$30 from the total price, because 30 quantity * -1 dollar fee = -$30.
    3. Finish the appointment like usual.

Setting Public Services and Service Groups

This section is for inspectors who want to do both of these things:

  • Want customers request an appointment online, AND
  • Want customers to be able to select their own services.

Services each belong to a Service Group category. First, we must make a Service Group visible to the public. After that, we can choose which Services from that Service Group we want to hide. Finally, we want to enable the public to make appointment requests, which will make our changes live.

Make a Service Group Available to the Public

  1. Log into your HomeGauge Dashboard.
  2. Click Appointments > Inspection Services.
  3. Click the name of the Service Group to edit it.
  4. Check the Services in this Group are Available in Public Appointment Requests box.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click the Save Service Group button.

Make a Service Available to the Public (or Hide It)

  1. Click Appointments > Inspection Services.
  2. Click the name of the Service to edit it.
  3. Check the Show in Public Appointment Requests if Group is Shown box. Alternatively, uncheck this box to hide it from the public.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click the Save Service Group button.

Enable Public Appointments Requests and Make PublicServices Selectable

  1. Click Appointments > Company Settings.
  2. In the Public Appointment Settings box, clcik the Public Appointment settingslink.
  3. Check both the Enable Public Appointment Requests box and the Allow Customers and Agents to Select Publicly Available Services box.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Save Settings.
