Staying up to date with the most current version of HomeGauge is important to take advantage of new features and bug fixes. Updating the current version of your software is also free. The steps below explain how to check for and run updates. Click here to read about the most recent version update.
Check Your HomeGauge Version
Open the HomeGauge software on your computer
Click Help > About HomeGauge...
About HomeGauge will show the version of HomeGauge you are currently on. The example below is an old version of HomeGauge Inspection Software 5.4.5.0
Click OK when finished
Check for Software Updates
Open the HomeGauge software on your computer
Click Help > Check for Updates
Note: If you want to install updates, make sure you are prepared to close HomeGauge. Save and close any open reports.
If you are already up to date, HomeGauge will show that your software is up to date. Click OK.
If an update is available, HomeGauge will show the version you currently have and that an update is available. If you would like to update, click Yes.
HomeGauge will download the new installer.
Once the new download is finished, you will be prompted to install it. Click Yes. HomeGauge will close and the installer will start updating HomeGauge.
Note: Updates and reinstalls do not remove any of your settings. They may, however, add any missing default HomeGauge material, including any missing default templates, print documents, or forms.
Upgrade from Version 3 or 4 to Version 5
Upgrading to the latest major version provides the latest features and integration with other service providers. It is designed to improve efficiency, reduce time, and provide a higher-quality report.
HomeGauge version 3 is no longer supported by HomeGauge.
Cost of Upgrading to Version 5
To get HomeGauge version 5, you'll need an active HomeGauge software subscription.

Cost of Updates to Version 5
Updates to the current version of the software are free. For example, if you have version 5, all updates, such as 5.4.5 and 5.5, are included in your subscription.
We recommend that you keep your software up to date, as these updates include bug fixes and new features. To make sure you have the current version, click Help > Check for Updates.
How to Upgrade to the Next Major Version
If you are currently using HomeGauge 4, follow the steps below to upgrade to HomeGauge 5:
On the computer you have HomeGauge 5 installed on, log in to your Dashboard and click Install HG5 on the left menu.
Once the install is complete and HG5 opens, you must convert your HG4 template. Open a blank report and click Select Report Template. Find your version 4 template and open it. It will have the HG4 orange icon next to it. It may be in the "uncategorized" category on the left of your screen.
Once it is open, click File > Save Template As. On the next screen, name your template, then click Save. From that point forward, use this newly saved copy of your original template to build reports in HG5.
