Failed to Send Report to Cloud - Broken pipe
If you encounter the error message "Failed to send report to cloud Write error: ssl=0x81e51ac0: I/O error during system call, Broken pipe" while attempting to upload your report to the cloud, it indicates that the report you are trying to transfer is too large for cloud-based uploading.
Please take note of the following details to help resolve this issue:
Transfer Limit and Resolution Setting: The transfer limit for reports via the cloud is set to 600 MB. This restriction is in place to prevent timeouts during the transfer process. It's essential to ensure that your report's size is within this limit. To accommodate more pictures for future reports and avoid the error, we recommend adjusting your camera settings. Checking Report Size: To determine the size of your report:
Navigate to the left three-dot Menu
Select More
Click Report Size. This will provide you with information about the size of your report.

Updating Apps
Ensuring that HG apps are fully up-to-date rules out many previously addressed issues and bugs.
How to Update Apps:
Open the Google Play Store.
Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner.
Select “Manage apps & device”.
Under "Updates available," tap "Update all" or update individual apps.

Managing Password Autofill
Password autofill has been known to cause issues with sign-ins as it can keep an out-of-date password.
How to Manage Password Autofill on Android:
Open Settings.
Tap Google > "Manage your Google Account".
Select Security > "Password Manager".

Crashing When I Edit a Comment (version 5.1.9.2)
If you are encountering crashes in HG Companion while attempting to edit comments, especially on Samsung, Motorola, LG, or other Android devices running Android 7.0 (Nougat), follow these steps to resolve the problem:
Update HG Companion: The simplest solution is to update your HG Companion to the latest version. To do this, access the Play Store on your device, search for "HomeGauge Companion," and select the "Update" option. If you have a previously installed version, consider uninstalling it before downloading the updated version from the Play Store.
Disabling Default Keyboard's Spell-Check: If the issue persists, you can try disabling the spell-check feature of your default keyboard. To do this:
Open your device's "Settings."
Scroll down and select "Language and input."
Tap on "Virtual keyboard."
Choose your device's keyboard from the list.
Toggle off the "Auto check spelling" option under "Smart Typing."
Installing a Different Keyboard Application: As an alternative, you can install a third-party keyboard application like SwiftKey:
Visit the Google Play Store.
Search for a third-party keyboard app such as "SwiftKey."
Install SwiftKey and open it.
Follow the on-screen instructions to enable and set up SwiftKey as your default keyboard.
Fully Disabling the Samsung Keyboard: If you're using a Samsung device, consider fully disabling the Samsung keyboard:
Access your device's "Settings."
Go to "Language and Input."
Select "Virtual Keyboards."
Choose "Manage Keyboards."
Toggle off the Samsung Keyboard.
Note: If the toggle for the Samsung Keyboard is unresponsive, try disabling and re-enabling SwiftKey from this menu to activate the toggle. Some tablets might not allow complete disabling of the Samsung Keyboard.
Deleting or Uninstalling Apps
Sometimes you may need to start over with a fresh installation of the Companion App. Here are instructions to clear the app data for Companion, Uninstall the app, and reinstall it.
Clear App Data:
Uninstalling an app on Android does not delete the saved data for the app. If you do not clear the app data, your saved information will still be there when you reinstall the app. This means that if the problem lies in the saved data, the problem will be not be resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling. To delete this saved data before uninstalling:
Make sure you have transferred any reports you have been working on to the cloud so they are not deleted.
Go to Settings -> Apps -> HG Companion
Select Storage and Cache
Clear Storage and Clear Cache
How to Uninstall Apps on Android:
Open the Google Play Store.
Tap your profile picture > "Manage apps & device".
Tap "Manage", then select the app you want to remove.
Tap "Uninstall" to remove the app from your device.
