How to Ensure NACA Inspection Reports Are Complete and Ready for Upload

Ensuring that NACA inspection reports are complete and ready to upload to NACA involves using built-in tools and adhering to specific input requirements. This guide outlines the necessary steps to finalize and prepare your report for publishing.

Step 1: Locate Unanswered Items

If your report contains incomplete or unanswered items, use the Find Unanswered tool in the HomeGauge software to quickly resolve them:

  1. At the top of the interface, select the "Find Unanswered" option from the dropdown menu.

  2. Click the magnifying glass labeled "Find First" to navigate to the first incomplete item.

  3. Review the item and address incomplete details.

  4. Use the "Find Next" button to move through all unanswered items.

  5. Repeat until all items are reviewed and completed.

This process ensures that no sections of the NACA report are left blank or overlooked.

Step 2: Complete Required Inputs for Items

To mark a NACA report item as complete, you must provide the following information for each relevant item:

  1. Select a Condition or Action: Assign an appropriate status (e.g., Inspected, Repair/Replace, Not Present, or Exclude/X).

  2. Add Comments: Include notes or comments where applicable to provide additional context.

  3. Attach Photos: Add relevant photos, particularly for items marked as "Repair/Replace" or those sent to the Summary. Note: For NACA reports, items requiring repair or replacement, as well as those added to the Summary, must include photos for completion.

When these requirements are met, the "Status (S)" column will automatically indicate that the item is complete.

Step 3: Double-Check Report Progress

After completing all items:

  • Re-run the Find Unanswered tool to ensure no items were missed.

  • Perform a visual review of the report to confirm that all details are accurate and consistent.

Common Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Forgetting to add photos for items in the Summary or marked as "Repair/Replace."

  • Skipping the "Find Unanswered" tool, which may result in overlooked items.

  • Assuming that a status is automatically set without verifying the "Status (S)" column.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your NACA inspection reports are comprehensive and ready for printing or publishing. This structured approach minimizes errors and enhances report accuracy.
