Although Reports are not included in User Backups, HomeGauge will save your uploaded reports for 5 years on our private secure server. Uploaded inspection reports are guaranteed retrievable for five (5) years from the upload date. If a report has not been uploaded or is not associated with your account, HomeGauge will not be able to provide access to it. While in many cases we still have reports older than that on our servers, this retention timeline aligns with the retrieval policy, ensuring that reports remain available and accessible during that period. To download a report and open it in your software follow the steps below:
Download a Previously Uploaded Report
Log into your Dashboard.
From your HomeGauge software, click HG Services > My HomeGauge Dashboard.

Visit this link (click here) and enter your username and password, then click Sign In.
Find the report you would like to download under My Reports > All Reports.
Above the report name, click the Manage tab, then click Download.
Click the Download Document button at the bottom of the page.
Most browsers will directly download to your Downloads folder. In those cases find the downloaded zip file in the Downloads folder. Right-click and Copy the zip file. Then Paste that zip file in the Reports folder located in your HomeGauge Data Folder (HomeGauge\Reports). Locate the zip file that was pasted into the Reports folder and right-click on it, then select Extract All.
Uncheck the Show Extracted Files When Complete checkbox.
Click Extract. You may now close the File Explorer window.
Open HomeGauge software.
Click File > Open Report, then click the Refresh Database button located middle left of the window. Once the database has been refreshed, your report will populate in the list of reports to open and will be available to open and work on.
FAQs
Can I download Forms or agreements from the dashboard?
No, only Full Inspection reports in HTML format can be downloaded from the Dashboard to be edited in the software. Forms uploaded as Attachments Only or Agreements uploaded as Agreement Only will not be able to be downloaded and edited.
Can I download a Summary Only Report?
No, only Full Inspection reports in HTML format can be downloaded from the Dashboard to be edited in the software.
I downloaded a report, but why it doesn't show up in my software?
There can be several difference reasons you are not seeing the report in your software after downloading it from the dashboard.
First, make sure that the report you are attempting to download and edit was originally uploaded as a Full Report in HTML format. PDF Reports, Summary Only Reports, Attachment Only Reports, etc.. cannot be downloaded back into the software for editing.
If you are sure the report is of the correct type, make sure that you have placed the downloaded report in the correct HomeGauge Data Folder. You can find the folder that the software is using by opening the software and clicking File -> Show Data Folder.
